Galen è stato addestrato da Elric (The Geometry of Shadows) dopo la morte del padre. Elric stesso è deceduto poco tempo dopo aver raggiunto il luogo che i Tecnomaghi avevano scelto per nascondersi dalle Ombre.
Galen non è l'unico Tecnomago a non essere d'accordo con la decisione del suo Ordine di nascondersi dalle Ombre.
