A lungo ritenuta perduta, Babylon 4 ricompare dal nulla nel Settore 14. Sinclair e Garibaldi iniziano una missione di soccorso per trarre in salvo l'equipaggio della stazione. Nel frattempo, Delenn si incontra con gli altri membri del Consiglio dei Grigi.

Babylon 4 è stata rubata da alcuni sconosciuti provenienti dal futuro per essere usata come base per una guerra contro le "forze dell'oscurità" che si combatterà o è stata combattuta in un altro periodo temporale.
Sinclair sarà parte del complotto per rubare Babylon 4 e farla viaggiare nel tempo.
In un futuro imprecisato, Sinclair e Garibaldi assisteranno ad un attacco a Babylon 5 portato da una forza ostile, apparentemente con potenzialità superiori a quelle delle difese della stazione.
Garibaldi è stato lasciato da Lise Hampton appena prima di partire per assumere il comando della Sicurezza di Babylon 5.
Il Consiglio dei Grigi ha dato l'ordine di arrendersi che ha posto fine alla Guerra Terrestri/Minbari seguendo una profezia di un leader del passato, Valen. La profezia dice che gli Umani hanno un destino nel quale i Minbari non devono interferire.
Delenn è su Babylon 5 per studiare gli Umani e determinare se la profezia sia o meno corretta.
Delenn rifiuta il ruolo di capo del Consiglio dei Grigi per continuare il proprio lavoro su Babylon 5.

Note

Nel 2258, nessuna delle principali specie possiede una tecnologia che permetta di viaggiare nel tempo. Eppure, prima della morte di Sinclair una tale tecnologia sarà sviluppata. Sempre che già non esista e sia tenuta segreta.
La voce che parla al Sinclair del futuro dicendogli che sono attesi da un'altra parte sembra quella di Delenn, anche se non viene mostrato il viso di chi parla, forse intenzionalmente.
Negli episodi precedenti, i membri del Consiglio dei Grigi avevano un triangolo sulla fronte, mentre questa volta non è visibile. Il motivo che lo fa apparire o scomparire è sconosciuto.
Sentiamo per l'ennesima volta affermare che Sinclair ha un destino. A quanto pare, questo destino è conosciuto (quasi) da tutti, tranne il comandante di Babylon 5.
La tuta blu che si vede nell'episodio ha un aspetto familiare: si tratta infatti di materiale riutilizzato dal film 2001: A Space Odissey (2001: Odissea nello spazio). Per via del budget molto risicato di Babylon 5, è tutto quello che la produzione si poteva permettere.

Zocalo

I set di Babylon 4 sono una rielaborazione di quelli di Babylon 5, adattati al risparmio per i noti problemi di budget sostenuti dalla produzione.
Il regista, Jim Johnston, avrebbe voluto girare più scene del misterioso nemico che appare nella visione di Sinclair, comprese alcune riprese della silhouette della misteriosa specie, ma J. Michael Straczynski ha posto il proprio veto, non volendo rivelare alcun particolare a proposito.
Il codice identificativo di Babylon 4, visibile in alcune scene in computer grafica, è in realtà composto dalla data di nascita e da quella di morte di Elvis Presley, inserite all'insaputa di tutti da un tecnico degli effetti speciali. Quando lo è venuto a sapere, J. Michael Straczynski non è stato molto contento.
